Regional Homeless Education Conference:  School Homeless Liaisons and other staff will have two opportunities to receive training this year. 
The first Homeless Education Conference will be held on July 27th at Moore High School from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  The Second will be held on August 10th at Home of the Innocents (in the gym) from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  Conference discussion and materials will be the same for both dates.  School and district staff can sign up through PD Central.  School Homeless Liaisons will only be required to attend one of the days. Adopt a Family Winter Program:  Each year for the last four years JCPS Student Equity & Community Engagement has coordinated the JCPS Adopt a Family Winter Celebration. 
This program anonymously matches McKinney-Vento Eligible students and families with district employees and community partners who would like to provide gifts and items of need.  The gifts are collected and distributed to qualifying families at a culminating Winter Celebration in the month of December. If you would like to sponsor a child/family or are in need of gift assistance, please contact SECE at homelessmlbx@jefferson.kyschools or call 485-3650.  Please check back, applications for this year’s program will be available in September 2018 online or through the SECE office.  (insert Pictures). 

Tutoring: After school tutoring for McKinney Vento eligible student’s grades K-5 is available Monday thru Wednesday at several locations to Include: Wayside Christian Mission (432 East Jefferson St.), Volunteers of America (1321 South Preston St.), St. Vincent DePaul (1029 South Preston St), and Center for Women and Families.  

Camps: Student Equity & Community Engagement sponsors a Spring and Summer program each year for eligible students, grades K-5.  These camps involve educational components tied into fun engaging activities and field trips for students.  This year’s summer camp focused on Mindfulness and included trips to the Louisville Zoo, Derby Dinner Playhouse, and the Bell of Louisville (Insert Pictures).  Spaces are limited.  Applications will be available online, at tutoring centers, and through the SECE office.   

Equity in Higher Education Conference (Youth Conference): This conference has been held in the Spring for the last two years.  See Attachment.  Applications will be available January 2019. (insert pictures)

Parents:

Dispute: Any parent or youth may file a dispute if a student is not provided with the rights and services afforded to them in the McKinney-Vento Federal Law. These rights include comparable transportation services, immediate enrollment, referrals for services, protection from stigma, etc. https://www.jefferson.kyschools.us/about/policies

Scholarships
Equity in Higher Education Scholarship.  This scholarship accompanies the SECE, Equity in Higher Education Conference.  Students must apply for both the conference and the scholarship, then attend the conference to be eligible for a scholarship.  Applications for the 2019 Equity in Higher Education Conference will be available in January 2019.
